Memory Care
Walk through the doors of Heritage Crossing and you feel it right away: a community that’s genuinely alive. Residents gathering, staff who know everyone by name, a sense that people here are living with real purpose, not just getting through the day.
That energy is intentional. Heritage Crossing’s award-winning Assisted Living program is built around a simple idea — that every resident deserves personalized support, meaningful connection, and a community that puts their happiness at the center of everything.
Assisted Living at Heritage Crossing means your day-to-day needs are handled with care and dignity, so you can spend your time and energy on the people and pursuits that matter most to you.
Our team provides personalized assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management, with additional support available based on your individual care plan. Care plans are developed with you (and your family, if you’d like) and reviewed regularly as needs shift.
Beyond direct care, Assisted Living at Heritage Crossing includes:
Assisted Living at Heritage Crossing isn’t what most people picture when they first hear the phrase.
Residents gather in a great room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace. They meet friends at the bistro for coffee, find a quiet chair in the library, or join a class in the studio space. The dining room is restaurant-style, with chef-prepared meals that reflect real culinary attention: homemade dressings, fresh-cut fruit, and menus designed to suit every taste. The care team is always present and available, and they become known to you as people.
What residents notice most is the sense of belonging. Friendships form quickly here, and they tend to hold. Neighbors look out for each other. The programming, ranging from fitness and creative arts to social events and educational talks, keeps life genuinely interesting.
If you have a beloved pet, bring them. Heritage Crossing is pet-friendly, and the community was built with that in mind.
Heritage Crossing was designed so that daily life feels full regardless of what your care needs are. Amenities available to all residents include:
Heritage Crossing sits at 251 N. Cleveland Massillon Rd. in Akron, putting residents close to some of the best healthcare in northeast Ohio and a city with genuine cultural depth.
Healthcare access. Two of northeast Ohio’s most respected health systems are within a short drive. Cleveland Clinic Akron General, a 511-bed Level I trauma center and teaching hospital in downtown Akron, is approximately 8 miles away. Summa Health Akron Campus, a 750-bed Level I trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center that earned Healthgrades’ America’s 50 Best Hospitals designation, is also in downtown Akron at a similar distance. For more specialized orthopedic care, Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center‘s main hospital campus is on Embassy Pkwy, just about 2 miles away.
Culture and community. The Akron Art Museum, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens are all close to Heritage Crossing. The area has a strong arts scene, a restored downtown, and a calendar of community events that residents regularly enjoy.
Ohio’s tax climate. Ohio does not tax Social Security income, and residents 65 and older qualify for a senior citizen tax credit. Property tax exemptions for qualifying seniors can reduce the financial burden of homeownership for those managing both their own costs and a loved one’s care.
Heritage Crossing was built around the idea that community is the point. Every design choice (the great room, the fireplace, the bistro, the studio spaces) reflects a philosophy that connection is as essential to wellbeing as medical care. The team builds real relationships with residents. That combination of strong clinical support and genuine community investment is what families and residents tell us stands out.
Heritage Crossing is also certified by the Ohio Department of Aging to provide services under the Assisted Living Waiver program, which can make a real difference for eligible families navigating care costs.
Assisted Living at Heritage Crossing supports residents who need help with daily activities (bathing, dressing, medication management, meals) while preserving as much independence and autonomy as possible. The community is open and social, and residents direct their own days with personalized support from our team.
Memory Care is a specialized neighborhood designed specifically for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. It offers a higher care-partner-to-resident ratio, dementia-specific programming, a secure environment, and a team trained in dementia communication and behavioral support.
If your loved one’s needs have progressed to where they require that level of focused, specialized attention, Memory Care is the right fit. Our team can help you think through which level makes the most sense.
