Memory Care at Walnut Crossing

Walnut Crossing is a community where care is personal in the truest sense. The team here builds real relationships with each resident, learning their history, their personality, what sparks their curiosity and what brings them calm. That individual investment, combined with specialized clinical support, is what makes Walnut Crossing’s award-winning Memory Care program genuinely different.

At the center of that approach is a person-centered philosophy: building individual bonds with each resident and creating daily experiences that are meaningful, engaging, and tailored to who they are. For families, it translates to something invaluable: the confidence that your loved one is truly known and cared for here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Memory Care is a specialized level of care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body dementia, or other forms of cognitive decline. Assisted Living, on the other hand, supports residents who need help with certain daily activities while maintaining substantial independence. The community is open and social, with residents directing their own days.

At Walnut Crossing, the Memory Care neighborhood is purpose-built with a secure environment, a higher care-partner-to-resident ratio, and programming specifically designed for residents’ cognitive needs. The physical environment is designed to reduce anxiety and support ease of movement, and the daily structure provides the comfort and consistency that helps residents thrive.

Walnut Crossing’s Memory Care program is designed for the full range of dementia stages. Care plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted in partnership with families — always with the goal of preserving dignity, comfort, and quality of life at every stage.

Our team is trained to recognize what works for each individual and to adapt their approach as needs evolve. Families won’t be asked to find a new community when their loved one’s condition advances.

Families are active partners here. Our team communicates proactively with regular care updates, direct access to staff, and prompt outreach whenever something changes. We also provide dementia education resources and guidance on visiting approaches that help family members feel confident connecting with their loved one.

You’re always welcome to join your loved one in activities and programming. We’re happy to welcome you as an extended part of our community.

Couples can remain at Walnut Crossing while receiving different levels of support, with one partner in Assisted Living and the other in Memory Care, both within the same community. Our team works with both individuals to build a care plan that honors their relationship while ensuring each person receives the right level of support.
